We drive through the eastern valley of Oaxaca to the lovely rural town of Teotitlan del Valle at about 40 minutes drive from Oaxaca centro.

 

You will hike the Pico Picacho, a moderate hike with stunning views and wildlife to observe!

After a well diserve local lunch, the family  of Josefina invites us in to learn about their trade. Oozing with passion for their craft we see how determined they are to keep the weaving tradition going through the generations and share it with us. ​

From raw sheep wool to colored threads and finally beautiful bright carpets, you will learn about the process of dying and weaving on a traditional loom.

Also fascinating, the  unique tradition of the village of candle making and wax decorations for special events of town. Another demostration, hands on with local artesanos of Teotitlan del Valle.
