MEZCAL SECRETS TOUR - FROM THE FIELD TO BOTTLE

Santiago Matatlán

We drive you through the eastern valley of Oaxaca to the world capital of Mezcal, Santiago Matatlán at about an hour drive from Oaxaca centro.

You will visit two different palenques (mezcal distilleries) owned by local producers with two different perspectives and ideas. It's a conversation with you and the maestros mezcaleros during which you will feel at ease to ask questions, learn and of course taste the sacred beverage!

We will sample a large variety of flavours and recipes prepared by Israel in his mezcal laboratory. You will sit and continue chatting and trying his creations in his private tasting room at a great location in the village with stunning views over the valley of agave fields!

Food will be served in this beautiful space and later at a local restaurant we will try some delicious dishes "al comal" and a traditional meal, before heading back to Oaxaca.

DAVID

My wife and I did a mezcal tour with Margo and it was amazing. We met the producers and they invited us into their homes. We talked over mezcal and it felt like a relaxing day with old friends. The next day Margo invited us to her gallery. We got to meet some local artists and bought some of their personal work. It was really cool to meet the artists and we got to take home some really unique souvenirs. Overall we had an incredible experience with Margo. We would recommend Vamos o que? to everyone traveling to Oaxaca!
